Come immerse yourself into the world of MarlaGran - the inner world of imagination and creativity; the world in which every child, outside and within our hearts, knows how to thrive!

RSVP is required. We will be holding a Raffle for a Special Edition MarlaGran book, signed by the artists! Make sure to come in person and keep your ticket number 🙂

Our Book Launch Party is a special opportunity to meet the authors and artists of MarlaGran, listen to the author's reading and interact with MarlaGran’s story, connect with the community, and let your imagination and creativity expand! 

On this day we will also be launching our Kickstarter Campaign where you can pre-order your book. At the moment there are only few copies readily available. Buy yours at our Party and get it signed by the Artists!

We welcome families, kids, parents, teachers, therapists, guides, and whomever feels called to experiencing MarlaGran!

What is “MarlaGran”?

MarlaGran is a bilingual, interactive book about a girl who embarks on a journey holding the question,

“How does one live creatively?”

As she encounters unique characters and wild experiences, she invites us to step into our inner world of creativity and imagination through interactive activities, thoughtful prompts and art.

MarlaGran’s story and activities help us connect with our hearts and whatever makes our heart sing! She helps children listen to what excites them in life, as well as express their thoughts, feelings, dreams and concerns in their own playful language. She helps adults connect with their own inner child and remember the importance of their singing hearts. Marlagran supports us ALL to listen to our inner wisdom and share our gifts with the world!

I wrote my first story when I was 6 years old. During that time, at nights when my big brother couldn’t fall asleep, I would sit by his bed to tell him stories from my imagination. Growing up, when I was home by myself, I loved playing my favorite music on the radio. I would sing and dance as if I was on the biggest stage in the world. Excited, I jumped up on the couches and chairs like a little monkey and let my imagination go wild. Just like when I sit to watch the colors of the sun while dropping into the Mediterranean Sea. Even now, I receive most creative ideas while gazing at a sunset that never looks the same. MarlaGran can be the story of our life in a magical world where everything is possible. I hope that she inspires you to create in your world all that your heart imagines.

I was born among tropical mountains and grew up on the top floor of a building that allowed me to see how the moon was hiding behind them. Being on that balcony made me feel free, creative, and it became an escape in times of absurd violence. There, on that balcony, the winds brought me images of creatures, and whispers of fantastic worlds. That balcony woke me up to the fire of creating, imagining, and flying in the imagination. Now, after all these years, I continue to discover fantastic worlds through my illustrations and animations, I explore the world through my movies, and I discover my own humanity through the beautiful path of creating and exploring life through art.

When I was a young girl I would imagine in the dark long parades with horses, elephants, carriages, women in glittery dresses, fairies, and colorful creatures dancing around my room. My family built me a space to paint and draw my imagination. My first art show was at age 7 which led to more art classes and finally my fine art and graphic design studies in college. I began my career in graphic design and illustration in 1982 and continue to love my work, as well as painting, drawing, dying textiles and creating large sculptures. I also love the ocean. I have traveled to exotic places as a diving journalist and I swim with all the magical sea creatures in the ocean near my home every day.

I am a mixed media artist born in Colombia, a heartshop co- creator and youth minister. I focus on the intersections of mental health, creativity, and faith. I am passionate about making creativity accessible to all through play, use of everyday objects and metaphors through my offering of heartshops to all ages and community building. I am based in the SF Bay Area CA.
