About The Event

Introduction:

Women have traits that are multifaceted, strong, vulnerable, and colorful, just like the rainbow of qualities we can find in the archetypes of the Greek Goddesses. Join this all-women workshop to explore together and celebrate the spectrum of our female identity.

The archetypes, just as the inner archetypes of the Greek goddesses, are powerful inner patterns, forces within that influence what we do and how we feel and can reveal intimate truths about ourselves. When we are able to understand them, we gain powerful insights that provide the key to self-knowledge and wholeness.

What we do:

In this Female Rainbow Workshop, the fifth of its series, we start by reading and reflecting upon the myth of Demeter. Demeter, Goddess of Grain, is the maternal archetype. She represents maternal instinct fulfilled through pregnancy or through providing physical, psychological, or spiritual nourishment to others. It motivates women to nurture others, to be generous and giving, and to find satisfaction as caretakers and providers that can also be expressed through helping professions. In our circle we delve into the relationship-oriented qualities of this archetype to explore our capacity to care for another, and for our inner child, while learning when we need to put limits in our giving to take care of ourselves.

We work in dyads, following a guided embodied exploration that will help you explore your emotional availability to hold another and at the same time define your boundaries. From this state of acknowledging healthy limits, we move on to using playfully a variety of art materials, including drawing, creating with clay and collage. Through this personal exploration, each participant deepens their connection to the qualities of Demeter. Lastly, we use Authentic Movement, creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you are free to move and listen to your body’s wisdom. This way you open yourself to receiving insights that can encourage you to put limits in your giving when you need to and to transform the "empty nest" feeling by caring for your inner child.

Please bring: Comfortable clothes that you can easily move. Your open presence and beginner’s mind as this workshop is mainly experiential. Movement explorations are adaptable to all physical abilities and conditions. Quality art materials will be provided. Participants are welcome to buy the book of Jean Shinoda Bolen “Goddesses in Every Woman”, but it is not required for the workshop.
