About The Event

This workshop is the first one of the series Authentic Movement Workshops for Women: A Female Rainbow.

In this workshop we use Greek myths, Authentic Movement explorations and Expressive Art activities to invoke in our embodied presence, the qualities of Hestia in order to tend the inward fire and find our way back to center.

Hestia is the goddess of the fire burning on a round hearth. She was felt to be present in the living flame at the center of the home, temple, and city. She made all places holy when she was there and she provided the sanctuary where people bonded together. As an archetypal presence in a woman’s personality Hestia is similarly important providing her with a sense of intactness and wholeness. Hestia concentrates on her inner subjective experience by connecting with her inner center. Hestia’s way of perceiving is by looking inward and intuitively sensing what is going on.

With guided and self-directed explorations, we will have the opportunity to delve into the independent, self-sufficient and intuitive qualities of this archetype to :

  • connect to your inner wisdom and trust your intuition
  • get in touch with your values by bringing into focus what is personally meaningful
At the end of the workshop additional explorations will be provided to invoke these qualities in your everyday life to:
  • listen to others with a compassionate heart while being grounded
    • feel calm, and peaceful, and increase ability to make your home feel like a sanctuary
